RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor

Job Purpose

The Senior Instructor is at the heart of the activity programmes – leading the Sailing School activity sessions and assisting with peer training and development.

This role is a seasonal position: September 2025 - end of June 2026

Job Responsibilities

• Organise, supervise and assist a team of Instructors, to ensure all courses/sessions run smoothly and properly
• Run sessions in accordance with the RYA scheme standards
• Provide a high level of safety and instruction for guests and staff on the waterfront
• Oversee staff instruction
• Liaise between Chief Instructor and sailing instructor team
• Organise day-to-day staff requirements.
• Produce a course plan accommodating all guest abilities
• Establish and implement water safety precautions.
• Partake in additional responsibilities including safety cover, customer service, shore-based duties, and pontoon management
• Assist with maintenance, security and upkeep of the sailing department and its equipment
• Help train, develop, motivate and appraise staff on their course delivery
• Assist in the Rescue and towing of yachts back to their berth in the marina.

Qualifications/Skills

• RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor essential
• RYA Powerboat level 2
• First Aid certificate valid for the duration of the contract
• Working knowledge of teaching sailing to beginners and experienced sailors, individually or in groups
• One-year previous experience as a Senior Instructor or related position
• Experience of Foiling, Multihull, Keelboat, Advanced, start racing and race coach training.

Internal - Ability to work well with management and staff at all levels

External - Ambassador for the club always in promoting the facility, networking and relationship building in the local and international communities.
