Senior Lead sailing instructor

Lead Instructor – Hayling Island Sailing Club Hayling Island Sailing Club is looking for a dynamic Lead Instructor to help deliver high‑quality watersports training and support day‑to‑day marine operations. Reporting to the Marine Manager, you’ll oversee the club’s training programme, lead sessions as Duty Senior Instructor, and ensure safe, professional delivery of RYA courses and activities.
>This hands‑on role is varied, practical, and mostly outdoors. You’ll guide and support the instructor team, contribute to key events, and help maintain equipment, rescue craft, and general marine operations. Training for plant machinery and equipment will be provided. What We’re Looking For Preferred qualifications:

• RYA Senior Instructor (Dinghy, Windsurf, Wing)
• RYA Powerboat Instructor
• RYA Shorebased Instructor (First Aid, SRC)

Desirable experience:

• Working in a busy sailing school or club
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Good knowledge of HSE and RYA safety practices
• Confident problem‑solving and decision‑making

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver the club’s training calendar, including RYA courses and training weeks
• Act as Duty Senior Instructor and support the instructor team
• Lead briefings, debriefings, and coaching sessions
• Maintain rescue boats, hire fleet, and on‑the‑water equipment
• Assist with major sailing events and marine operations
• Support members and promote a safe, welcoming environment
