Summer Camp Lifeguard

Position Overview: Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe and structured aquatic environment at camp pools, lakes, or waterfront areas. In this role, you will actively supervise swim sessions, monitor waterfront activities, enforce safety procedures, and respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
Beyond surveillance, Lifeguards often assist with swim instruction, help campers improve their skills, and support boating or other waterfront programming. You will work as part of a team to ensure all safety equipment is maintained and all procedures align with certification and camp standards.
This is a residential summer position.Key Responsibilities

• Assist with swim instruction as needed

Location: This is a residential summer camp position located at partner camps across multiple U.S. states, including New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maine, New Hampshire, Colorado, and more.

Staff live and work on-site at camp for the duration of the summer. Housing and meals are provided. During the application process, candidates can indicate their preferred states, regions, and camp types. 

Final placement is based on applicant preference, availability, and camp hiring needs.
Requirements

• Available for the full summer season (typically early June through mid–late August)
• At least one year of college completed or age equivalent
• Passion for working with children and young people
• Ability to thrive in an active, outdoor environment
• Current Lifeguard certification (Red Cross or equivalent) or willingness to obtain certification upon employment
• Previous experience as a lifeguard with knowledge of aquatic rescue and safety techniques preferred
• CPR/AED certification
• Strong swimming ability
• Must pass background screening
